T-Mobile Fan Park

Outside Millenium Point, from June 9 to July 9, there will be a T-Mobile Fan Park (Birmingham City Council website), and according to that site, along with the World Cup matches, there’s more fun to be had:

“Acts lined up by 96.4 BRMB to perform before the first three England games include former Busted Matt Willis, Duncan James from Blue and Tony Christie who’ll rally the crowds behind Sven and the team with his World Cup version of his number 1 hit, ‘Amarillo’. ”

Not listed here, shockingly, is Birmingham’s own The Mexicolas, who will be on stage at 12.30 on the day of the Trinidad & Tobago match (I don’t know when that is, I am not a football fan), so if you are planning to go, get there a bit early, because they’re good! Their Myspace appears to have more information than their actual website.

    Hey,

Great to see you’re back, Rachel! Congratulations on finishing your dissertation, too!

The England v Trinidad & Tobago game is on Thursday, June 15th. The game doesn’t start until 5pm, so hopefully I’ll have time at lunch to pop into town to see some of this. Thanks for the heads up!

Well, it’s right outside my university so it was pretty hard for me not to know about it! I doubt I’ll go, but it seems like it’d be fun! If the cafe on the way there (Rosa’s Cafe) is open, I recommend it. It’s a bit of a greasy spoon, but it’s really cheap. Even the lecturers go there instead of the over-priced canteen ;)

Hi there. I’ve heard a rumour that fans are not allowed to wear their football shirts. I don’t suppose you know if there is any truth behind this do you? Sounds totally stupid to me!

the game today in the fan park was immense… great atmosphere.

How are your studies going Rachel? So your at the tic as well?

I work there, commercial side though (don’t worry, i’m not a scary lecturer). I’m young and normal.

    Take care.

Hi Ilvas! I have actually finished my degree, but yes I was at TIC. Free at last now! I had my last exam last week, when they were still setting it up.

Oops, it looked like a V in your name, I spelt it wrong without realising. Sorry!
