Birmingham’s Wheel

Birmingham Wheel ((c) Stephen Booth 2004) One of the recent additions to Birmingham (well in the last few years) has been the Birmingham Wheel, a big wheel, akin to the London Eye, that allows citizens and visitors get a ‘birds eye view’ of our great city. The original wheel was on loan from Paris and had a commentary track in French. I’m told (for I do not speak the language myself) that the commentary directed the passengers in each cabin/gondola to look in various directions at the sights of Paris that would be visible if the wheel was in it’s normal home. I have not heard if the current wheel has a commentary track and if so what it talks about (and, indeed, in what language it speaks).

This photograph was taken by myself in December 2004.
