Brum from Space

I was perusing the other Metblogs recently and came across this post by Michael in Melbourne regarding Google’s satellite images. So I downloaded the Google Earth program and zoomed in from space down to my apartment. Unfortunately, like my Aussie compadre, I was dismayed to find that there don’t seem to be any high-resolution pictures for the city centre! There are a few, however, just to the east of the centre, presumably for people looking for “Spaghetti Junction” or Birmingham International Airport.

Maybe Google is slowly updating all their pictures… time will tell. It would be cool to know when exactly they’re going to take the photos, in order to set up some sort of sign, but I guess they’re not going to release that sort of information, or they’ve already taken the pictures they’re going to use. Ah well.
